A Tribute to Jonathan Bloomer
By Ron Persaud, Co-founder and Director, Change Real Estate
All of us at Change Real Estate are shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden, tragic loss of Jonathan and Judy Bloomer. Their passing leaves a void that is hard to comprehend, and our thoughts are with their children and families during this difficult time.
Already good friends, Jonathan and I co-founded Change Real Estate in 2013, he was a remarkable colleague. Our friendship remained strong even after he left the company in 2021 to focus on his other commitments, including Morgan Stanley and Arrow Global. Jonathan was a unique blend of knowledge, experience, and gravitas, yet he carried all that with a rare humility—there was never any “look at me” nonsense. His great sense of humour always lightened the room.
Those of us, Kay, James, Luke (now living in Antigua) and myself who worked closely with Jonathan fondly remember the early years of Change Real Estate. Those were intense, exhilarating times, filled with the challenge of juggling multiple projects and managing diverse professional teams. Jonathan had an extraordinary ability to cut through the noise and get to the heart of any issue. He did it all with a calm demeanour and soft- spoken confidence that inspired everyone around him.
Beyond work, my wife Kay and I will always treasure the years of friendship we shared with Jonathan and Judy. We have many happy memories of holidays and gatherings with our families. With her legendary organisational skills, Judy was the perfect complement to Jonathan’s calm and thoughtful presence. Together, they were generous and warm-hearted hosts and friends.
On a personal level, I can only express my deepest gratitude. Thank you, Jon. I will deeply miss our friendship, the conversations we shared, often with a glass in hand, and your humour—especially that unforgettable ‘bat’ joke (if you know, you know).
Rest in peace, my dear friend. Your legacy and the many lives you touched will never be forgotten.
